I’m one month into this new journey, and the top question I’m now getting is “how is retirement”? So today I will answer that.
First of all it’s going great! Like REALLY great! I haven’t looked back once, and definitely don’t regret my decision to leave the corporate world after nearly 23 years. I have noticed in the past couple of weeks that I feel like myself again. Which means at some point I started letting the real me slip away due to an environment that wasn’t healthy for me. I’m now enjoying every little thing about life, and finding joy in so many things. Part of that is because I now have time for the things that I enjoy, and that’s helping to bring out the best in me.
I was asked yesterday what I have been up to. I’ve taken one road trip, continue to workout with my trainer, still taking piano lessons so I’m getting more time to practice now, doing my daily bible study, going for a walk at the park each morning, lunch/dinner with friends, house projects, going to the movies in the middle of the day, learning new editing skills, enjoying more porch time, and soon will be adding volunteering to the list. I definitely haven’t had time to be bored yet, and I still have a lot of things on my list that I hope to achieve while taking this extended break.
This has been a fun first month away from work, and I know that God has big plans for me during the rest of my time off. Don’t forget to check back to see where all He leads me!
